Sports

With 2023 football victories in the Servpro First Responder Bowl and Sun Belt Conference (SBC) basketball titles for both men’s and women’s teams, Texas State athletics has performed exceptionally well overall. In 2024, TXST won the SBC titles for women’s track and field and golf.

Art

An Impactful Legacy

Lyndon B. Johnson, the first American president to have graduated from a Texas institution, is part of our tradition of students changing the world. The school was established in 1899 to train the brightest educators in the Lone Star State. Although we have had a few name changes, our dedication to education has remained constant.

Kelly Damphousse, President

On July 1, 2022, Dr. Kelly Damphousse became Texas State University’s tenth president. Anyone who has a question, a problem, or wants to communicate can reach Kelly, as he prefers to be called.

Although our San Marcos Campus is large—500 acres—it is full of smaller spaces, such as art galleries, maker spaces, sports fields, and a creative studio, where you may explore, study, create, and enjoy yourself.

The Bobcat Way of Life

Every year, over 9,000 Bobcats, including nearly all first-year students, have the opportunity to live on our San Marcos Campus. Class, excellent dining options, and all the action on the Quad will all be nearby. Events, performances, guest lecturers, and, of course, Bobcat athletics are scheduled throughout the year.

Student Associations

With more than 400 student organizations focused on academics, the arts, socials, and service, you’re sure to meet others who share your interests. There are several ways to connect with campus life, meet new people, and discover new experiences.

Service to Students

About 3,500 students, faculty, and staff volunteer during The Big Event, a one-day student-led community service project originally known as Bobcat Build.
