The Alfred University, New York State College of Ceramics Graduate Diversity Fellowship Program

The goal of the Graduate Diversity Fellowship Program (GDFP) is to provide financial assistance to graduate and professional students who have excelled academically and overcome a disadvantage or other barrier to higher education. By showcasing their dedication to supporting and strengthening diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in their academic programs and activities, candidates will add to the variety of the student body.

Eligibility for the Program

To participate in the GDFP, candidates need to:

either be US citizens or have permanent residency status.

Show how they have overcome a disadvantage or other obstacle that has prevented them from succeeding in college.
Encourage and strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in their academic programs and campus events to show that they are dedicated to adding to the diversity of the student body.

Although candidates may justify their eligibility based on economic hardship, financial necessity is not a prerequisite for program eligibility.

Candidates will be given preference if they are:

Were first-generation college students (those whose parents have not completed a bachelor’s degree), came from low-income backgrounds (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), overcame hardship, are veterans, or are AmeriCorps alums.

Any potential applicant is welcome to apply for the Graduate Diversity Fellowship Program (GDFP), which complies with all applicable federal and state nondiscrimination laws, regardless of race, colour, national origin, or sex. Every application will be reviewed and evaluated based on the necessary qualifying requirements.

Approval of the annual state budget is required for all campus distributions. Even though we have been giving out campus scholarships for a long time, funds might not always be available.
